David Blades

After being admitted to legal practice in Canberra in 1999 and working for the Department of Immigration and Multicultural Affairs, David worked as a solicitor for the Perth office of the Australian Government Solicitor (AGS) from 2001 to 2006 conducting administrative law cases in the federal courts and the Administrative Appeals Tribunal (AAT) as well as negligence and general litigation in the State Courts.
David has also practiced in the area of Property Law and for the WA Department of Commerce advising on consumer protection matters.
David has an interest in legal education, having lectured in the College of Law’s legal practice course, and regularly presents continuing professional development seminars through the Law Society of Western Australia and other CPD providers.
In 2011 to 2012, David acted as a Deputy District Registrar of the Federal Court in the WA Registry during which time he obtained mediator accreditation and conducted numerous mediations.
Having a strong administrative law background, David has a particular interest in judicial review of migration decisions in the Federal Courts.
David’s other areas of practice include General Administrative and Commercial Law, Bankruptcy, Wills & Estates, Negligence and Industrial and Employment Law.
